MY PRACTICE TEACHING JOURNEY

Learning something new can be a scary experience. Including this practice

teaching journey, but then I realize that this fear is not really an emotion of being scary
but the feeling of excitement. This single one thing changes the way I see what will this

journey going to be and how will I going to respond to it.

I started this journey with a positive mindset and I am really hoping for the best

that I will grow and learn new things every single day. And in a nutshell, it doesn’t fail me.

I decided to conduct my practice teaching at Bagumbayan National High School
for few reasons. One is that, the nearest public high school, Upper Bicutan National High

School, in my vicinity is not included in the memorandum of agreement that was signed
and gave back by the Division Office. This is also where I conducted my Field Study 2.

Second is, Taguig National High School, where I conducted my Field Study 1 didn’t accept
us due to the fact that their immersion students were not accepted by PUP and since we

are from PUP, he also didn’t accept us. That is also why our Field Study 2 was conducted

in different school. Fortunately, with God’s grace through the kindness of Dr. Teodoro,
BNHS accepted us for the teaching internship.

On my first days, my critic teacher doesn’t even orient me that much, and I take it
as a challenge. I take it as whatever will happen is to my benefit and if any trouble should

come, I can always inquire about it to my critic teacher. He just gave me few words on

how he handles these classes and I am different than him so I should find my own thing
and how will I implement things on the classroom. He introduces me once to each of his

6 classes and then after, he leaves me that very same day just after some minutes of
introduction. It surprises me very much but I wasn’t all nervous because, what worse can

happen, right? So, I did what a teacher suppose to do. I made them introduce themselves
one by one with their names, talents, hobbies or interests. Then I try to memorize them

all. And I see that they appreciate it when you know them by name. This is the start I said

to myself. Then there is also a section that did dance by group and presented it with very
much enthusiasm, this class is ABM-B and one of my favorite class. They feel like a very

solid class and you can say that love is in the air in this class. In between introduction, I

did interrupt for some comment or questions that I find interesting to found out about them.
It was cool. And after they have introduced themselves, in some classes when we have

time to spare, I just give them some ground rules and ask them what to expect of the
class and I give them what I expect of them, then we have games after that. That day

everything is handed down to me which is, I think is pretty exciting and challenging. He
said he did that because he said I can’t concentrate much and get conscious if he is

               around.
