DR CHARMAINE KORPORAAL: HEALTH SCIENCES – CHIROPRACTIC DEPARTMENT
Dr. Korporaal, a Senior Lecturer in the Chiropractic Department, has been recognised for her exceptional commitment to community engagement over the past year. She has created spaces for the practical application of knowledge, which is crucial for producing future-ready graduates in alignment with ENVISION2030.
Her work involves engaging with diverse communities through chiropractic services, providing care in urban settings such as retirement villages and wellness days, as well as in rural community clinics and at sporting events. Beyond her direct care efforts, Dr. Korporaal collaborates with healthcare personnel and connects with NGOs, NPOs, and higher education institutions to enhance community support. Her holistic approach not only benefits the communities she serves but also enriches the educational experience for her students.

The Warwick Zero-Waste Team, part of the Engineering and Built Environment at the Urban Futures Centre, has been recognised for their exceptional commitment to community engagement over the past year. Their work aligns with the ENVISION2030 and centers on empowering informal workers such as street vendors, market traders, and waste pickers in African marketplaces. By fostering innovative zero-waste models, the team aims to create mutually beneficial collaborations that enhance sustainability and resilience in urban environments across Africa and beyond.This approach not only supports local economies but also promotes a more circular economy, paving the way for healthier communities and cities.
