Page 37 - Wax & Words
P. 37
Step-by-step example of layering on a white page for wax
and words collage:
Step One:
Start with asemic writing to loosen up your hands and mind.
(See the video).
It’s easier if you have a hand-penciled lined area to scribble
in - let it flow, but keep it consistent and straight to maintain
the illusion of handwriting.
You can use occasional “real” words but try to stick to
fragments of meaning rather than complete words or
phrases.
Step Two:
Add a small image or collage element somewhere on a line
where thirds intersect.
Make marks by dragging a stick dipped in walnut ink across
the page. Think of these marks as a “framing” layer floating
over the first layer of writing.
