Step-by-step example of layering on a black page for wax
and words collage

Step One:

Brush white tempera paint onto the black paper with a wide
brush – be spontaneous.

With your graphite pencil, scratch into the damp white
tempera paint.

Step two:

Add a layer of light-colored collage paper with script or
words. It can be a scrap from your asemic writing practice.

Tear it in an organic shape and use your glue stick to paste it
down securely.
