Youth Ministry
This past year for the youth ministry has been an impactful and
eventful year. We sought to continue our growth, not only numeri-
cally but spiritually. Within the past year there have been weekly
Wednesday night Bible studies and youth services every fifth Sunday. The average attendance
throughout the past year has been 25-30 students.
Ministry Highlights
• Youth Lock-In – Min. Xavier O’Rourke preached this service and we had many students and
their friends attend our youth lock-in.
• Min. Al Curley preached his last youth service as youth pastor in April of 2023.
• From May to September there has been an intentional emphasis on discipleship and spiritual
formation.
• We have sought to bridge the gap between student attendees and student disciples.
• We have placed a large emphasis on relationship building not only with students but also
youth ministry volunteers.
• We gave away $12,000 in scholarships to our youth in 2023 during the Senior Rec Sunday
• Our youth participated in the “Wave” experience hosted by Texas Baptist ministries and we
felt like that was a positive and impactful time for our students.
• Our students enjoyed the V.B.S experience here at Cornerstone. We saw many students
during the week of V.B.S
• There have been some new additions to the youth ministry leadership team: India Curley, Jetti
Ridley, & Whittney Johnson.
• Min. Xavier O’Rourke preached his first youth service at Cornerstone on the fifth Sunday in
July. It was truly a student “Take over.” Our students did a phenomenal job conducting the
entire service.
• Throughout the summer months we saw a steady pace of about 30-35 students on Wednes-
day nights.
• Picking back up in September, we are seeing around 40-45 students. Our students have
become intentional about inviting their friends and peers to Wednesday nights and
Sunday School. 28
