weekends of racing. Both boys were assisted by some more seasoned Fleet 63
sailors who stepped away from their regular boats to help out.

Toms River Yacht Club hosted their annual Sunset Sail Series, and Fleet 63 was
well represented in the Outboard B division with 4 boats registered. The 10 week
long series is a fun and low key handicap sailing event for keel boats and cabin
boats and is held every Wednesday evening on the Toms River.

The 2022 Ensign Nationals were held close to home, and Fleet 63 did not
disappoint! Four boats participated and all four finished in the top 10. #1085
Lorelei and Bud Brown finished second, #1060 Wild Card and Will Wiencke
finished sixth, #1511 Dolce P and Joe Paccione finished ninth and #1231
Platypus with Rick Doerr/Dave Willner finished tenth.

In June volunteers from Fleet 63 and Beachwood Yacht club hosted the Sea
Scout Regatta for the Sea Scout Ships of Delaware, New Jersey, New York and
Connecticut.

Looking forward to our 2023 Season, representatives from the BBYRA, its
member clubs, and Fleet 63 are collaborating to ensure a full season of racing.
Fleet 63 will also be hosting the Region I Championships to be held at the Toms

River Yacht Club on September 16 and 17 .

Fleet 63 would like to congratulate Pete McConnell of Chelsea Yacht Club on his
new appointment as Region 1 Commander, and we are looking forward to
working with you.

We are thankful for the support from all of the organizations working to keep
Ensign sailing alive, including the Ensign Class Association, and Barnegat Bay
Yacht Racing Association as well as all of the members of Fleet 63 and the
Ensign Class as a whole. We wish everyone a safe, happy, and healthy year
filled with lots of Ensign sailing.
