Back from a leave last season to raise his newborn son, Ben Stern was
active this year in the Saturday Trophy Races. His Debbie Does
Brooklyn (1483), won both the
Miramar Trophy Race and the
Kossman Regatta, narrowly
outdistancing Andrew Shabalin
in Uforia (1074). Stern also
won the Fall Series. Karen
Salva, Ben’s wife and regular
crew took off a second year to
care for their son. In her place,
David Willner of Fleets 51 and
63, lent his services and helped Off Rockaway. Photo by Ollie Alpert
navigate the team to victories.
Dave Shin, our Commodore from last year, and an Ensign owner
himself, also crewed with Ben.

Other active boats were Celest (899) with Ben Stern and Leon Paley,
Alex Dunajski in Moose (1109) and Carneirinho (841) with Tom Tolleson
and his wife, Krissy Madrid.
