Three AYC teams also travelled to Houston Yacht Club to compete in the
Region IV Championship - 578 (Tom Groll, Bill Hawk, Molly Isbell), 588
(George Dahmen, Ann Kitzmiller, Franz Dahmen, and Lynn Jaeger), and
929 (Lewis Price, Graham Gilmour, Susy
Ortega, Brent Horsely, and Mike Murphy).
It was a great weekend, and even the
sitting around waiting to see if the wind
would fill in included lots of laughter,
camaraderie, snacks, and card games.
On the racing front, the wind was mostly
light and shifty, but we managed to
complete five races over three days.

Team 588 accepting the 1st with 1st place, with the other AYC boats
place trophy in the Region IV finishing somewhere behind them.
Championship. Congratulations Team 588 - it was a well-
earned victory!

And while we’re bragging, two Fleet 30 Ensigns participated in AYC’s
2023 Single Handed Regatta and came in 1st and 2nd place in B-Fleet -
Tom Groll (578, 1st place) and George Dahmen (588, 2nd place). In fact,
Tom Groll had the best overall corrected time against all 27 single-
handed competitors.
