In Gratitude…..
Dear Region 1,
I can't thank those of you who attended IES enough
for all of the love and support you showed me and
my quartet over the course of the weekend. As a
Sweet Adeline who grew up in Region 1, it was
awesome to see so many familiar faces in the crowd
at both the Rising Star contest and the Mixed
Harmony contest. It really eased my nerves!
On Friday night, my mixed quartet, Beantown Buds,
placed third in the first ever Sweet Adelines Mixed
Harmony contest. On Saturday, a lifelong dream of
mine came true when my Rising Star quartet,
Adrenaline, won the contest and became the 2017
Rising Star Champions!
Adrenaline is a long-distance quartet that formed last year and in the years to come.
fall after realizing we had the same goals - to
compete at Rising Star and impact audiences with the
music we make. Our bass, Sara Littlefield, lives in
California, our baritone, Jadyn Johnson, lives in
Nebraska, our tenor, Maggie McAlexander, lives in
North Atlantic Region 1 Sweet Adelines
Tennessee, and I'm from Rhode Island, currently
living in upstate New York for work! It was a
challenge to be so far apart, but we cherished every
moment that we were together. We got together at
BHS Midwinter in January for our first rehearsal
weekend (funny story - our first rehearsal is actually
where I met Jadyn for the fist time!), and again in
July at the Barbershop Harmony Society
International Convention in Las Vegas. We were so
fortunate that the time and work we put into this
quartet paid off!
We are absolutely thrilled to represent Sweet
Adelines this coming year. Each of us grew up in
barbershop, and it truly means the world to us to have
such an amazing barbershop family supporting us.
We can't wait to make all of our regions proud this
