Pat Marais
2012-2017 Tags & Swipes Editor
2015-2017 Region 1 Marketing Coordinator
Pat Marais served as the editor of the Tags
and Swipes newsletter for five years, beginning
with in Fall 2012. Pat recently stepped down
after a two year term as the Marketing
Coordinator for the region. We asked Pat a few
questions about her T&S experience below:
What did you like most about the job? I got to
learn about what was going on in each chorus
and had the opportunity to try to display what
was sent to me in the most interesting way I
could envision at the time.
What was your most challenging aspect of the
job? The challenge of learning Adobe In-
Design. Prior to that I used Microsoft
Publisher when I published chorus newsletters.
Thankfully my daughter was studying to be an
architect, so she was very familiar with the
technical parts of that software and could tell
me how to do things I couldn't figure out on my
own.
What accomplishments are you most proud of
during your tenure? I think I was able to
produce an interesting newsletter that displayed in our region. She kept our website updated
our Region 1 members and their activities in a
positive and professional manner. I encouraged
sharing accomplishments as much as possible

so that the whole Region could be inspired by
possibly trying something that worked for
others so that everyone would benefit..
What will you miss? I will miss immersing
myself in an interesting project that challenged
my skills and let me share some great
memories.
What are your future plans, now that you've got
so much free time on your hands now? "Free
time" is not a concept that I am familiar with,
but definitely a new chapter of my life is about
to be written and I'm not sure where it will
begin. I am glad to be alive since my bout with
cancer last year and maybe when my husband
retires in October our first trip to Sweet
Adelines International Contest in Las Vegas
(where I will be part of the tech rehearsal
chorus) will be the first of many trips that he
wants us to go on to fulfill his bucket list.
Pat worked tirelessly, often behind the scenes
to bring us interesting and entertaining articles
to keep us informed about what was happening
and worked with chorus marketing
coordinators to share ideas to help promote
their chorus.
