Profile Chorus (continued)

As you can see from both these ladies' accounts, being a chorus member is so much more than just
standing on risers and singing. There are lessons to be learned and preparations for other things in life
than performances. A Shakespeare quote from the play “As You Like It” says that “all the world's a
stage,” and those of us who share in the sisterhood of singing are continually discovering how true
those words are.

We are pleased to report that Profile's contest scores this year were 35 points higher this year than they
were in 2017, and the judges wrote very favorable comments on our score sheets. Our director was
extremely pleased with us for doing the plan and putting our hearts out on the stage, and when she is
happy, we are happy! All that hard work at rehearsals clearly paid off this year, so we will keep on
doing what works, as well as adding some more tricks and tweaks to make the songs even better.

In other related news, Profile's newest quartet, No Kiddin', made their contest debut this year and
placed 10th in their first time on stage. They were also the recipient of the region's Novice Quartet
award. Congratulations to Betty, Sarah, Lynda, and Denise on a job well done. We are so happy for
you and you did us proud!

Now that we have the excitement and stress of contest behind us, Profile will continue the rest of this
year polishing our repertoire, learning as much as we can from our fabulous coaches, and applying it to
our upcoming show in the fall. Trust – believe – trust. That is how it's done!
