Acappella Sounds Chorus (continued)
My fellow noobs that have joined since last summer might agree that there is a spirit of inclusiveness and
support in Acappella Sounds Chorus. It’s not about membership numbers. It’s about learning, giving, and
connecting through music. Every instrument is unique. Like an orchestra, we all come together, creating
magic through music. Songs that, when sung together, move you in a way that cannot be described easily
with words. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, and many contribute valuable time to the
chorus, not just to keep it going, but to make the rehearsals as worthwhile as possible and prepare for
upcoming events.
We currently have an amazing Interim Director, Tracey Lardner. Her energy and lighthearted spirit bring so
much fun to the rehearsals. I enjoy how we switch things up now and again, finding creative ways to learn
the music. I’m thrilled that rehearsals will continue throughout the summer. I hope we can keep up the
momentum that we have built up as we grow stronger together.
The chorus has allowed me to find my voice. I grew up singing to my heart’s content, most memorably
while playing in the backyard daydreaming on my swing set. Then I stopped singing for a long while,
thinking I didn’t have a “singing voice”. These days, you may pass me while driving around the West
Island of Montreal with my Bel Canto party face on, singing away wherever I go!
Cheers
Chantal Turgeon
Addendum: The Acappella Sounds Chorus is so delighted to welcome all our new members, as we grow
together. Their spirit reminds us all of why we joined our choruses. Chantal has jumped right in and recently
lead us in warmups, we are hoping that you will meet Chantal and all our new members at an upcoming
regional event.
