               Frosting, but this new kid on        Choco ate Cake (page 37), burned

               the block, a result of sheer         toast, soda crackers, you name it!
           experimentation and luck, has

           stolen my heart! It is much like a
           basic chocolate pan frosting in

           that you begin with melted butter
           and cocoa, but what makes it so

           luxurious to eat and so pleasur-          MAKES  3  CUPS,  ENOUGH  TO  FROST
                                                           A  2-  OR  3-LAYER  CAKE
           able to work with is the addition of
                                                              OR  30  CUPCAKES
           sour cream. Try this frosting on           PREPARATION  TIME:  10  MINUTES

           the Choco ate Sour Cream Marble

                                                    8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, cut into
                          R                         2 ⁄3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
                                                       8 pieces

              the Cake Mix Doctor says              3 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted

                                                    1 ⁄3 cup sour cream
               If you make this frosting with regular
                                                    1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
               cocoa, it will have a lighter chocolate
               color than if you make it with Dutch-
                                                    1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan
