Subsequently, a microvascular transfer of the great toe will lengthen the thumb column.
As illustrated in the image below, the reconstructed thumb comprises three elements: the
original thumb metacarpal, the metacarpophalangeal joint from the index finger, and finally,
the toe transfer to complete the reconstruction.
