Website
The WCPP’s website remains a central point for sharing informa on with the public. In 2021 a
number of new func onali es were added to ease naviga on and to provide even more sources of
informa on to site visitors. A ‘Live’ bu on was added to the homepage allowing users to navigate to
the videos page more swi ly and, the Ques ons and Replies func onality was added.
The number of website sessions recorded during the period under review increased by 8.3% from
the 2020/21 baseline.
During 2021/22 the image slider on the homepage was updated 26 mes, 22 ar cles were published
on the media carousel and 218 video albums were created.
In addi on to the above, the calendar, papers of the House, legisla on and other informa on on the
website was updated on an ongoing basis in order to ensure the currency of the site.
Internal communica on
Communica ng with Members and employees through the ins tu on’s electronic internal
communica on channels has always been a priority to keep Members and employees informed.
During 2021/22 the WCPP’s electronic internal newsle er, Legis-thetha, was distributed bi-monthly.
IntraComm, the corporate internal communica on email service, con nued to fulfil an important
role in keeping employees informed about corporate ma ers.
To enhance the effec veness of internal communica on, WhatsApp groups were established to
communicate with Members and employees. These WhatsApp groups have since become one of the
ins tu on’s primary internal communica on tools.
Media
The WCPP prides itself on the posi ve media rela onships it has built through the years. The media
remains an important vehicle to relay informa on about the ins tu on, its ac vities and public
par cipa on processes. With the outbreak of COVID-19 and the hos ng of mee ngs and si ngs on
virtual pla orms, it was very important to keep the media abreast of developments and invite media
representa ves to join and follow these virtual mee ngs and si ngs.
In 2021/22, 219 media alerts were issued. The majority of media alerts issued were to invite the
media and the public to view online mee ngs of the standing commi ees and the virtual si ngs of
the House streamed on YouTube.
Publica ons
During 2021/22, five publica ons were published, including: 2021/21 Annual Report, 2022/23
Annual Performance Plan, 2022 tent calendar, Public Educa on Workbook in Afrikaans and Public
Educa on Workbook in Xhosa.
