THE LAND OF ISRAEL

            Truth to Teach (Source)

1 Samuel 16:7 The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at

the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart.’

Matthew 2:6 ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least
among the rulers of Judah, for out of you will come a ruler
who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.’

                  God promised Abraham land

 Jesus was born in Israel

 The strategic position of Israel between three continents

 The importance of Israel to Christians, Jews and Muslims

 The land, climate, people, culture, etc of Israel

 God wants us to respond to him with our hearts first rather than our intellect

                         first

            Way to Work (Means)

                  1. Review the main lessons learnt from the Greeks.

                  2. Explain that the next nation is very different to Greece but is very important
because Jesus was born there and the Israelites were known as God’s

chosen people. It is also important to the Jews and Muslims as well as to
                      Christians.

We are studying it to contrast the Greek Grandeur and intellect, which often
hindered peoples’ faith in God, to the Hebrews, more of whom responded to

God with their heart rather than their intellect. The children could colour and
fill in the cover sheet for homework using 1 Samuel 16:7.

                  3. Talk briefly about Israel and show holiday brochures of Israel. Point out

that many visitors to Israel are pilgrims wanting to see, and worship at,
