sacred sites. Some children may like to create their own holiday brochure of

Israel with a set number of sites to attract tourists.

                  4. Show maps of Israel in Old Testament times, New Testament times and the
present day. Explain that God promised Abraham land of his own. Talk about
the strategic position of Israel for sharing the Gospel in three continents.

Let the children fill in the map by referring to atlases or copying from an
                      acetate.

                  5. Let the children use books, the Internet and other sources of material to

create a news-sheet on Israel. The information sheet provided could be used
to save the children time but they could supplement the material from their
                      own research.

Set out guidelines for presentation, eg two A4 pages, neatness, illustrations,

time scale of two/three lessons. Less able children may like to use the
outline provided for their news-sheet with headlines and short reports on
each subject. Stress that the children do not need to use every item of

information they find but they should select interesting bits.

                  6. Let the children share their main findings about Israel at the end of lesson
                      15.

             Learning for Life (Fulfilment)

                  1. The children will have acquired a basic knowledge of Israel and have
appreciated its strategic position and importance to Christians, Jews and

                      Muslims.

                  2. They should also have begun recognising the contrast between Greece and
                      Israel.

                  3. They will have had more experience in selecting and recording relevant
                      information.
