THE RHYTHM OF A YEAR
Truth to Teach (Source)
Genesis 8: 22 God has established and faithfully maintains the rhythm of time in
creation for our good.
To learn the seasons of the year.
To review the months of the year.
Way to Work (Means)
1. When God told Noah that he could come out of the ark, what was one of the
first things he did? (He built an altar to the Lord and offered a sacrifice to
God. He and his family were probably very grateful that God had kept them
safe.) God was pleased with Noah and he spoke to him, giving him two
wonderful promises. He promised never to send such a flood again, and then
he promised never to interrupt the rhythm of a year ever again. This is what
he said: -
‘As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer
and winter, day and night will never cease.’ Genesis 8:22
God has faithfully kept this promise over many years and the rhythm of the
seasons and the months in a year have continued as he set them up.
2. Pin up pictures of the seasons. Can the children identify the different
seasons?
Talk about the different weather we experience in the different seasons. Talk
about how creation around us changes in each season.
3. Ask how many months there are in every year. Give out the months of the
year cards and ask the children to get into the correct order according to the
months of the year. Beginning with January, stick each month around the
seasons picture. (Winter: Dec. Jan. Feb., etc)
