MARVELLOUS ME
Truth to Teach (Source)
Genesis 1:26 & Psalm 139 Our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made to reflect the wisdom of a Creator God.
Jeremiah 1:4-5 ‘The word of the Lord came to me saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”’
1 Corinthians 6:19 ‘Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you
have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore
honour God with your body.’
1 Corinthians 12:13 ‘For we are all baptised by one Spirit into one body – whether Jews or Greeks, slave or
free – and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.’
God has designed us with great care and skill.
God knows us intimately, even before we were born and he has plans for us.
We have a responsibility to steward our bodies for God.
To discuss the theories of Creation, Intelligent Design and Evolution.
To explain the progression from knowledge to understanding, to wonder to worship to wisdom.
Components of the human body.
Way to Work (Means)
1. Show pictures of people from different parts of the world with different coloured skins and discuss how
wonderfully we are all made.
2. Read and discuss the above verses.
3. Use paper aeroplanes to demonstrate the theories of creation and evolution. Some children may have heard of
the Intelligent Design theory too.
(There are numerous websites on Intelligent Design, eg

• Take a sheet of paper. Crumple it dramatically, to simulate the ‘Big Bang’. Tell the children, “This is a
paper aeroplane”.
• Hopefully the class will see the absurdity of calling crumpled paper an aeroplane. Ask, “What's wrong with
it?” (It needs wings. It needs to be straight, etc.)
• Try to shape aeroplane accordingly. Have test flights. Conclude that it will not work. Talk about why it will
not work. Question and answer leading on to conclusion that accidents/explosions do not naturally
produce order, beauty, design and efficiency. There is a need for design and careful manufacture.
