Let the children illustrate their story and add final details. Encourage them to use their
dictionaries or spell checks to check any difficult spellings.

Talk about the poem as a class and encourage the children to look up difficult words. Ask the
children to write a summary of the poem with their thoughts about it. Let them write about
parts they like and give reasons, parts they do not understand and also to note the rhyming
patterns. They could also illustrate the poem.
Alternatively, a poem about Spring-time could be used to follow the theme of the children’s
stories.
LESSONS 9-11
The Easter Story
Depending on how the Easter story has been written up in previous years, select a new way
for it to be written, either a factual account, as a play, as a newspaper with headings and
subheadings or as a series of character portraits.
