Example facility management plan
Facility management plan
The facility for which the facility management plan has been developed is the
Hervey Bay Health, Fitness and Testing Centre. This centre is based at the Hervey
Bay campus of the Wide Bay Institute of TAFE and serves as both a learning
centre for Diploma of Sport and Recreation students and as a commercial
operation.
The centre offers the following services to commercial clients:
• resistance training
• health and fitness testing
• sport-specific physiological testing
• circuit training
• Mature Adults Training and Exercising Safely (MATES)
• aerobics
• specific educational workshops.
The centre’s commercial trading hours are 6.00am–8.00am, 11.30am–12.30pm
and 4.00pm–7.00pm, Monday to Friday. These limited hours are due to the need
for the facility to be used as a learning facility for the remainder of the week.
Staffing arrangements include a:
• part-time centre manager
• part-time health and fitness instructors (always 2 on duty in each session).
Due to the centre being owned and maintained by the TAFE, all cleaning
and building maintenance is undertaken by TAFE maintenance staff. Specific
equipment maintenance is the responsibility of the centre.
The centre has operated as a commercial operation since 1996, when it finished
the year with 15 paying clients. The centre currently has 115 yearly memberships
filled, along with over 85 clients who use the centre and its various services on a
casual basis.
