Mature Adults Training and Exercising Safely program (MATES)

of osteoporosis, or already diagnosed with the condition. The program uses a
range of resistance training techniques to assist the healthy growth of bone and
soft tissue in the elderly.

Sports testing
This service offers specifically designed physiological testing to assess athlete

Swiss ball and other educational seminars
Swiss ball training is quickly being recognised in Australia as a fantastic and
innovative method of improving core muscular strength and coordination in all
people. Educating coaches, physiotherapists, strength and conditioning coaches
and sports trainers is a potential market for the centre.
Types of users
Demographic information was gathered through liaising closely with the local
council, which gave information on the population of Hervey Bay including males
and females, age-based information, occupation and location by suburb.
It was found that there are approximately 44000 residents in Hervey Bay and
surrounding towns, the number of females slightly outweighs that of the male
population, the most popular occupations were in tourism, administration, trades
and government or council positions, and that the most highly populated suburb is
Pialba.
It was then decided that to gain information specific to the type of person that was
a current or potential client, a survey would be issued to all current and former
commercial members of the Hervey Bay Health, Fitness and Testing Centre.
