Each bowler, when delivering a 25
wood, must have both feet entirely
behind the end of the carpet.
Should a bowler, after having been
warned by the opposing skip, per-
sist in infringing this rule then the
skip shall cause that wood to be
declared dead.
There shall be a delivery
space at the centre of each end of
the carpet which shall be 457mm
(18in) wide marked by two guide-
lines which measure 457mm
(18in) in length.
Under the English rules a bowler
must deliver their wood through an
18 inch wide delivery area which is
marked out at each end of the car-
pet.
Two blocks are placed along
the edges of along the lines to en-
sure that a bowler does not bowl
outside of the designated area.
Membership of the ECBA cur-
rently stands at nine counties: Bed-
fordshire, Durham, Essex, Norfolk,
Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Northumberland, Suffolk and Sunderland. It is also possible
for individual clubs to become associate members, if their counties are not members, there
are currently clubs in West Sussex for whom this is the case. This associate membership
gives the members of these clubs the ability to enter EBCA events.

and charity competitions going on in both Short Mat and
Carpet Bowls and I love to print these details
Everyone deserves their 15 minutes and the hard
work of organisers should be recognised. This sport only
works because of the grass roots bowlers. If you
scrapped all International teams and play, would our
sport cease or just carry on regardless? The anwer is of
course it would carry on as though nothing had happened..
The people who make our sport work are not the people at the top, who do good work
but YOU the grass roots bowler and in the long run publicity is our life blood. How can we
convince more people to play if we keep our sport a secret?
