In the Semi-Finals, Old Felixstowe B moved
to 4-1 up after 3 ends, but Gt Blakenham A
fought their way back to lead going into the
last end. Even so a final wood nearly forced
an extra end, but it wasn't quite enough as
Blakenham won 6-5 to end a very impressive
run from the Felixstowe team.
In the other Semi Claydon/Barking
never gave Claydon a look in as they ran
away to an 11-1 win
In the Final Claydon/Barking (Tom &
Triples Champions Sam Runnacles and Clint Watling) v Gt Blak-
Sam & Tom Runnacles & Clint Watling enham A (Steven Cain, Andrew Pooley &
David Ford). On the first end Tom Runnacles
cut the count with his last wood, leaving Blakenham with two shots. A single then gave Blakenham
a 3 - 0 lead but this was cut back by two shots to .
End 2 – At 5 down Tom gets his last wood in to cut it down to just one. 3-0 but this was cut
back to 2-3 by Claydon/Barking. However by end 5 Blakenham led 7-2. On end 6 Claydon/Bark-
ing’s Tom Runnacles with his last wood does the only thing he can and plays to take the opposi-
tion's nearest wood out. It might have cost the game but it works perfectly and they pick up a four
and get them back in a game that had looked lost a few minutes earlier at 6-7.
On the next end Sam Runnacles plays Blakenham's shot wood off the jack to hold. Tom
moves the jack and may hold 2, Steven Cain misses with his last so it's one and a measure to
Claydon/Barking and the measure goes to them, they pick up 2 shots to complete a remarkable
comeback and win 8-7, retaining the title which they have now won 3 times.

This year there was a small drop off in
numbers owning to a couple of clashing
events, but we still had 90 players en-
tered, only just short of the maximum.
As usual everyone would get 5
games, all on different mats and all both
with and against different players each
time.
Game 1- With a 12-3 win in their
first game the trio of Jane Evans, Clint
Watling and Peter Dent led the way early
on. They were followed by 9 players who
had picked up 10 shots in their opening Random Triples Winners
matches. 4th Malcolm Tricker, 2nd Cathy Saunders,
Game 2 - Only 20 players were
able to get repeat wins in their second 1st Clint Watling & 3rd Steven Cain
games, including a massive 17-0 win that propelled Tom Runnacles and Sue Isles to the top with
4 points and 24 shots. Ken Drane and Clint Watling were on 20 shots, Peter Dent had 19 and
Jane Evans 18.
Game 3 - A mere 8 players won for a third time. Way out in front on shots was Tom Runnacles
with 39, with his nearest rival Clint Watling, 10 shots behind. Cathy Saunders and Rob Parnell
had 23 shots, Neil Jolly 22, Steven Cain 21, Jane Coulon 20 and Rosemary Kerswell 19.
