Game 4 - We were now down to just 5 players who had won all their games. Neil Jolly and 27
Clint Watling headed the table with 8 points and 36 shots, Cathy Saunders was 6 shots
back and Steven Cain and Rosemarie Kerswell were one shot further behind. Two other
players, Malcolm Tricker and Jane Coulon were on 7 points, having won three and drawn one. All
of that meant that it was all going to go down to the wire because not only would the top two be
playing in the very final session, but they would also be playing one another.
Game 5 - With each round split into two halves it was probably all going to be decided on
one game but with the first half having been played there were 2 players who had won 5 times,
Cathy Saunders and Steven Cain who had 42 and 41 shots respectively.
So the final standings would be decided by Neil and Clint's game. Unless it's a draw or a
very low scoring game the chances are the eventual winner will come from this game. Clint picks
up one, then takes the jack off on the second, which is what Neil also does on the third, Neil then
draws one on the 4th end to make it 3-3. On the 5th end Clint draws his last for 2 to lead 5-3 and
on the next Neil takes 2 back to make it 5-5 with one end to go. Neil needs 1 shot to win overall,
Clint needs 2. And Clint does it, thanks to Neil taking the jack off.... again.
In the end there were just 4 unbeaten players. Fourth place went to Malcolm Tricker with 9
points, having won 4 and drawn 1. The top 3 all won all of their games. In third was Steven Cain
with 41 shots, second was Cathy Saunders with 42 shots and first was Clint Watling with 43 shots.
A good day's play which everyone seemed to enjoy and a finish which would hardly have been
closer. Many thanks to everyone who played and helped out on the day.
