Top Six Tournament
Top Six Tournament
Mark Village held their Top Six Charity
Tournament in the Autumn at the village
hall, with 6 teams of 6 players competing
from Somerset, including Cheddar,
Compton Dundon, Burrowbridge, Kew-
stoke, Midsomer Norton, and Temple-
combe.
2- wood triples was played first fol-
lowed by 3- wood pairs and then 4-wood
singles. After the first round of matches,
last year’s winners, Compton Dundon led
by a single point from Templecombe. These 2 teams continued winning and were still neck and
neck after the second round, but in the final set Templecombe jumped past Compton Dundon by
beating their rivals 13-3 in the triples.
However, the pairs next, was a 17-2 for Compton Dundon setting up an exciting finale in the
singles for 2 old Somerset County players, Compton Dundon’s Ian Bolton and Alan Berry of Tem-
plecombe. Ian went on to win 9-3 having been 3-2 behind after 4 ends to lift the title for the second
year running. Burrowbridge were third and Kewstoke finished fourth after a poor start.
A good day was enjoyed, with comments being made that teams hope to return next year.
The Profit on the day was £514, which the club will top up and donate to two local sick children.

Norfolk Memorial Pairs
Norfolk Memorial Pairs
The NCSMBA Memorial Charity Pairs was held at Hingham
Sports & Social Club where Kerry Greenacre of Haddiscoe
and Keith Cooke of Halvergate cruised to a superb 10-1 win
in the final against Wymondham’s Billie & Melvyn Barker.
In the semi-finals they beat County Council’s Lewis &
Owen Cranston by 11-5 while in the other semi-final the Bark-
ers beat Morris Taylor & Gill Coleman of Diss 14-2. All pro-
ceeds from the event will be donated to the winners chosen
charity Arthritis Research.
The Memorial Pairs, held in memory of all Norfolk
bowlers no longer with us, had not been held for a couple of
years because of date restrictions but it is hoped that the
competition will now once again be
held annually.
The day did not start well
when Competition Secretary Chris
Mann was unable to attend, due to
his fiancée Laura Hawksworth
being taken ill, and Assistant Com-
petition Secretary Jon Sparham
found himself in the hot seat.
Pairs Winners A few problems emerged dur-
