           In the semi finals Crosshaven had beaten Douglas GAA’s Tim O’Neill, Danny Twohig &               25
           Betty Kenneally, whilst Watergrasshill also made it to the final beating St. Mary’s on the
           Hill’ s John O’Connell, Dean Foley & Annette O’Connell.
                 In the final, Crosshaven took the first end with a single but Watergrasshilll struck back
           with a single of their own. Crosshaven replied with a single and a two to lead 4 - 1. Back came
           Watergrasshill with  a single and a four to take the lead 6 - 4 after six ends.
                 A single to Crosshaven reduced the deficit  but another four gave Watergrasshill gave them
           a commanding 10 - 4 lead and they had one hand on the trophy with just one end to go, leaving
           Crosshaven needing a six to force a sudden death extra end but Watergrasshill scored a single
           for an 11 - 4 title winning victory.
                 After a hard fought and exciting match, the individual prizes were presented by Theresa
           Cooney, who also presented the Perpetual Trophy to Watergrasshill’s Liam Conlon, the Skip of
           the winning team. The final session was umpired by Marie O’Leary and Michael J. O’Shaughnessy.
           Watergrasshill Club Triumph again

           Douglas Community School Bowls Club staged their Annual  Licensed  Triples Competition for
           the May Murray Perpetual Trophy in the D.C.S. Sports Hall. The competition was once again a
           great success with 201 bowlers in 67-teams taking part. Not to be outdone by their clubmates who
           won the Carrigaline event, a different trio from the Watergrasshill club overcame the challenge
           from Sacred Heart B.C. to capture the May Murray Trophy.
                 In the semi-finals Denis Crowley led his triple into the final beating beat Douglas Community
           School’s Sheila O’Driscoll, Mary Boland & John O’Driscoll. In the other semi-final, Sacred Heart’s
           Skip Tim Murphy also led his team into the final with victory over Conna’s Noeleen Tanner, George
           Tanner & Adrian Tanner.
                 The final was a tight affair right up to the sixth of the nine ends. Sacred Heart’s :Mary Murphy,
           Pauline Delaney & Tim Murphy struck first with a single, with Watergrasshill’s Paddy O’Regan,
           Shane O’Regan & Denis Crowley levelling the score on the next end. ends three and four saw the
           same result and the match stood at two all.
                 Sacred Heart then struck with a two to lead 4 - 2. This seemed to spur on Watergrasshill
           who struck back with a three and then a two to lead 7 - 4. The next end effectively ended the final
           as Watergrasshill scored a four to lead 11 - 4 and followed this with a single
           on the last end for a 12 - 4 victory.
                 The prizes were presented by Sheila O’Driscoll the Douglas C.S. Club
           Captain and Angela Lyons Vice Captain. The May Murray Perpetual Trophy
           was presented by Christina Murray to Denis Crowley, the Skip of the winning
           team. The Umpires on duty for the final session were John Long, Sean O’-
           Suilleabhain, Mary Boyde, Eithna Linehan, Hazel Foley, Hazel Payne, Sheila
           O’Driscoll & Mary Boland.
