Breakaway Leisure’s annual Autumn Tourna-
ment once again proved to be a success. The
opening evening’s fun bowls drive saw Deborah
Trend, Clive Kingswood and Sheila Hillier
scoop up the chocolates.
The first event to be completed was the
Singles. In the quarter finals Alan McCallum
beat John Hillier 8 - 4, Liz Mitchell needed a
sudden death extra end to beat Pauline McCal-
lum 9 - 8 whilst Diana Adams had a comfortable
10 - 2 victory over Dennis Crabtree. Completing
the round Tony Horn was pushed all the way by
Bowls Drive Chocolates Winners Deborah Trend but edged through 6 - 5.

Tony then had an easier time with a 9 - 2 win over
Diana Adams whilst Alan McCallum beat Liz Mitchell
9 - 4.In the final Tony Horn was in unstoppable form
and beat Alan McCallum 8 - 3 with the last two ends
unplayed.
In the Pairs quarters Harry Brown & Robert
Hayward needed a last end single to beat Maureen
Bell & Marianne Taylor 7 - 6. Sheila & John Hillier
came from 3 - 7 with four successive three’s to beat
Derek Adams & Joanne Clements 12 - 7. Maureen
& Lonnie Fyson edged past Mary & Richard Paddy

In their semi-final Pauline & Alan came from 4 - 8
down against Maureen & Lonnie Fyson to win 9 - 8. Also
making it through to the final, Harry Brown & Robert
Hayward were in sparkling for against Sheila & John
Hillier to win 13 - 3. In the final Harry & Robert found
Pauline & Alan McCallum in even better form resulting
in Pauline & Alan winning 12 - 4.
In the Triples quarters Brenda Manning, Ian Vagg
& Deborah Trend romped home 13 - 1 against June
Dickens, Derek Adams & Joanne Clements. The other
three games were all close. Winning 8 - 7 on the last
end Mike Stoneman, Trevor Adams & Pam Clarridge
beat Clive Kingswood, Pat Cruickshank & John Wardle.
Bob Clarridge, Sheila Quinn & Dave Taylor edged
home 8 - 6 on the last end against John, Richard & Mary
Paddy. The final game of the round saw Derek Oxley,
Pauline & Alan McCallum edge through 8 - 3 over Mar-
ianne Taylor, Lonnie & Maureen Fyson.
