Avon County Open Pairs

Teams came from all over the country came to take part in the Avon Open Pairs Competition, in-
cluding, Cornwall, Devon, Wiltshire, Wales, West Midlands and of course local teams from Avon
were also well represented; in fact there was an Avon team in each of
the quarter finals.
Wellsway 2 played Hardwick 2, with Wellsway 2 winning 10-4.
Winterbourne were matched with Welsh side Llansamlet 1, with the
Welsh team running away with their quarter final 10-1. Also having
an easier time, Warmley 2 disposed of Salem by 11 shots to 3. Mose-
ley Mafia had a close game with Wellsway 1 but in the end the Mafia
won 7 - 5. This left only one local club in the competition.
In the semi-finals Wellsway 2 were faced with Llansamlet 1, with
Wellsway recording a comfortable 9-4 victory. Having a slightly easier
time Moseley Mafia recorded an 11-4 victory over Salem 1. Moseley Natterjack
Mafia, previous winners in 2015 were looking for another victory but Editor
Wellsway 2 were not about to let that happen, with Wellsway 2 record-
ing a convincing 10-0 victory. Dave Sawyer

Paddy phones an ambulance because his
mate's been hit by a car. Paddy: 'Get an ambu-
lance here quick, he's bleeding from his nose
and ears and I tink both his legs are broken.'
Operator: 'What is your location sir?'
Paddy: 'Outside number 28 Eucalyptus Street .'
Operator: 'How do you spell that sir?'
Silence.... (heavy breathing) and after a minute.
Operator: 'Are you there sir?'
More heavy breathing and another minute later.
Operator: 'Sir, can you hear me?'
This goes on for another few minutes until....
Operator: 'Sir, please answer me. Can you still hear me?'
Paddy: “Yes, sorry bout dat... I couldn't spell Eucalyptus, so I just dragged him round to
Oak Street”
