           WATERGRASSHILL LIFT THE BARR’S TITLE
           The Barrs Bowls Club staged the final session of their Annual  Licensed Com-
           petition  for the Barrs Perpetual Trophy and was held in the St. Finbarr’s GAA
           Club Pavilion.  The Tournament was once again a great success with a large
           entry  110 team entry, who were in action over the six days of the event.
                 At the Quarter-final stage  Saint Mary’s on the Hill (Annette O’Connell)            From
           beat Ballincollig GAA’s M. Boyde, S. O’Leary & M. Sisk.  Watergrasshill (Liam           Michael
           Conlon) also got through against Watergrasshill’s P. O’Regan, S. O’Regan &          O’Shaugnessy
           D. Crowley.  Wilton (Helen Burrows) progressed after victory over the Sacred
           Heart team of M. Murphy, P. Delaney & T. Murphy. Crosshaven led by Conor Middleton, took the
           last semi-final place, beating St. Vincent’s R. Coughlan, O. Lehane & M. Coughlan.
                 In the Semi-finals, Watergrasshill beat Saint Mary’s on the Hill, John O’Connell,  Dean  Foley
           & Annette O’Connell and Crosshaven beat Wilton’s Helen Burrows, Margaret Moynihan & Hubert
           Burrow.)
                 In the Final, Crosshaven’s Grainne Murphy, Keith Middleton & Conor Middleton lost the first
           four ends to go 0 - 5 down but a single and then a stunning five gave them a 6 - 4 lead. At this
           point.  Watergrasshill’s David West, Majella Conlon & Liam Conlon struck back with a four and
           then a single to lead 10 - 6 going into the last end, where they concede just a single to win 10 - 7
           in an exciting match.
                 The prizes were presented by Ray Murphy the Club Captain, who also presented the Per-
           petual  Trophy to Liam Conlon, the Skip of the winning team. The umpires on duty for the final
           session were Hazel Foley, Eddie Mills, Marie O’Leary & Hazel Payne.
           CONNA TRIUMPH IN THE DOUGLAS TRIPLES

           The Douglas GAA Bowls Club staged their Annual Licensed  Triples Competition for the Douglas
           Credit Union Perpetual Trophy which stretched for seven days.  The Tournament was held in the
           Douglas GAA  pavilion was once again a great  success  with 110-teams competing for the top
           prizes and attracted teams  from all the leading clubs in the Cork Zone
                 In Quarter-finals,  Adrian Tanners’ Conna team beat Watergrasshill’s D. West, M. Conlon &
           L. Conlon. Chris Aherne’s Sacred Heart Triple beat Cox’s Hall J. Kingston, V. Jennings & E. Jen-
           nings.  Watergrasshill’s Dennis D. Crowley beat “The Hut’s” E. Walsh, M. Moynihan & P. Dorgan.
           Ballincollig GAA’s M. Sisk’s trio beat Crosshaven’s  Mary Middleton, Keith Middleton & Conor Mid-
           dleton.
                 At the Semi-Final stage Conna’ Adrian  Tanner led his team to victory over the Sacred Heart’s
           Peg Aherne, Morgan Lahiffe & Chris Aherne. Also making the final, Watergrasshill’s Dennis Crow-
           ley beat Ballincollig GAA’s Mary Boyde, Sheila O’Leary & M. Sisk.
                 The nine end finals gave a very close and exciting match. Conna’s George Tanner, John
           Martin & Adrian Tanner  opened up with two two’s and a single to lead 5 - 0. Watergrasshill’s Paddy
           O’Regan, Shane O’Regan & Denis Crowley struck back with a two and a single to close the gap
           but Conna then replied with a three and a single to lead 9 - 3. Watergrasshill tried to fight-back on
           the last two ends but only managed two two’s which was not enough as they lost 9 - 7 to Conna.
                 The prizes were presented by the Douglas GAA Club Captain Patsy Flynn and the Perpetual
           Trophy by Maureen Grant the club President to Adrian Tanner, the Skip of the winning team. The
           Umpires on duty for the final session were Eddie Bannon, Eddie Mills, Jack Murphy, Marie O’Leary,
           Michael J. O’Shaughnessy & Betty Shellard.
