72 players in 18 fours entered the tournament, which were split into three groups of six. The win-
ners of each group with the best overall runners-up going into the semi-finals. All games were
timed with no more jacks after 40 minutes and a maximum of 8 ends to be played, with lunch
being taken at the end of the fourth game.
At this point of the competition three clear favourites for the semi-finals could be seen but
as yet, no clear favourite for the best overall runner-up.
The last games were then played and the three favourites held it together to become the
group winners, which were Winterborne 2, Wellsway 2 and Wellsway 3. The best overall runner-
up saw Wellsway1 making it through with 8 points and a shots plus of 17, just beating Hutton who
had the same points but were 3 shots behind at plus 14. Thus Wellsway had three teams through
The draw saw Winterborne 2 playing Wellsway 3, with Winter-
borne winning 6 - 3. Wellsway 2 had an easier time against Wellsway
1 with a clean sheet 10 - 0 victory. The final was held over 8 ends
with no timing involved. After 7 ends the final stood at 5- 5 and it
was Wellsway 2 who held their nerve and scored a vital single for 6
- 5 victory over Winterborne 2.
