TOURNAMENT
TOURNAMENT
The second running of the Tournament
saw 16 triples competing for the two tro-
phies on offer. The teams were split into
two groups of 8 teams each playing for
a trophy. Time constraints on a day’s
tournament meant that teams did not
play everyone else in their group. Nev-
ertheless, each triple had five games on
the difficult floor that the mats were laid
on. The lunchtime food was excellent

with Runners-up Fremington “B” In group 1 Winkleigh had returned
and the tournament sponsor to try and retain the trophy they won

last year. They made a confident start
with an 11 - 1 win over South Molton. Their second game was not so high scoring but
they managed an 8 - 1 victory over Westward Ho! In their third game they were made to
work very hard against Anstey A. They
were just one shot up at 6 - 5 with two
ends to go and finished with a single
and a two for a 9 - 5 victory.
Another big win came next with a
15 - 3 result over Merton that included
two sixes. Their final game proved to be
their toughest all day. Instow B who had
been struggling during the day found
some good form and with three hard
fought singles to lead 3 - 0. Back came
Winkleigh with a 1 - 3 - 2 closing run for
a tough 6 - 3 win.
This left Winkleigh top of the shop Seated Group 2 Winners Biddisham
in their group with 10 points and 49 - 13 with Runners-up Westward Ho! “B”
shots scoreline. Fremington B were second with 6 points and a shots scoreline of 48 -
30.
In the second group the eventual winners, Biddisham, opened up confidently with
stunning seven on the opening end against Anstey B, finally winning 12 - 2. This was
followed up with a 10 - 2 win over Instow A after two threes on the opening two ends.
Another clear result came next over Shirwell by 7 - 1.
In their next game an opening four got them off to a good start and they eventually
beat Fremington A by 10 - 4. With just their last game to play Biddisham were in the driv-
ing seat in their group and finished with an 8 - 2 result over Christchurch B. this left Bid-
disham as clear winners of their trophy with 10 points and a shots scoreline of 47 - 12.
Westward Ho! B were second with 6 points and a shots scoreline of 38 - 19.
