SACRED HEART TRIUMPHANT
Carrigaline GAA Bowls Club’s annual licensed 3 bowl Triples compe-
tition was held in the GAA pavilion for the Carrigaline GAA Bowls Club
Perpetual Trophy. The competition was once again a great success and
attracted an entry of 90-teams.
At the quarter finals stage, Watergrasshill, led by Sean O’Riordan,
beat St. Mary’s, Carrigaline (Irene Mc Loughlin, Denis Mc Loughlin & H.
Forbes. Douglas Community School (Pat Lynch) beat “The Hut” (Eileen
Walsh, Mary Moynihan & Pat Dorgan), Midleton (Joe Kirby) beat Watergrasshill (Paddy O’Re-
gan, Shane O’Regan & Denis Crowley) and Sacred Heart (Tim Murphy) beat Crosshaven’s
Mary, Con & Conor Middleton.
In the semi-finals, Watergrasshill (Sean O’Riordan) beat Douglas Community School’s
Ester Clifford, M.J. O’Shaughnessy & Pat Lynch and Sacred Heart’s Tim Murphy beat Midle-
ton’s Con O’Sullivan, Pat Mc Entee & Joe Kirby.
In the final, Sacred Heart’s Mary Murphy, Pauline Delaney & Tim Murphy started off with
a stunning five on the opening end and followed this up with a single to lead 6 - 0. A score
from which Watergrasshill’s Josie O’Riordan, Eddie Mulholland & Sean O’Riordan never fully
recovered. Watergrasshill scored two singles before conceding a single to Sacred Heart and
thus the score stood at 7 - 2. A two and a single gave the scoreline some respectability for
Watergrasshill but in the end Sacred Heart won 7 - 5.
The Umpires on duty for the final session were Martin Bracken and John Noonan and
the prizes were presented by Tony Desmond (Club Captain) to the winners and also the Per-
petual Trophy to Tim Murphy the Skip of the Sacred Heart team.

CROSSHAVEN EMERGE AS WINNERS
Douglas Community School Bowls Club staged their annual licensed fours competition was
held in the D.C.S Sports Hall, Douglas with everyone playing for the May Murray Perpetual
Trophy. The tournament was once again a great success with 53-teams in action over the
weekend.
Making it to the final, Crosshaven Bowls club faced Douglas Community School.
Crosshaven’s Mary, Keith, Con & Conor Middleton started off like a whirlwind with an opening
three and followed this up with a four to lead 7 - 0 after just two ends. D.C.S.(Mabel Boland,
Ester Clifford, Michael J. O’Shaughnessy & Pat Lynch), struck back with a single and a two
but Crosshaven replied with a stunning five shot end to lead 12 - 3 and after a tied last end
this was the final score in favour of the winners Cross haven.
The prizes were presented to the winners by Ester Clifford the Club Captain and Michael
Murray presented the May Murray Perpetual Trophy to Conor Middleton the Skip of the win-
ning team. The umpires on duty for the final session were Mary Boland, Mary Boyde, Pat Mc-
Carthy, John O’Driscoll, Sheila O’Driscoll, Michael O’Regan and
Hazel Payne.

(Rory Canning, Declan Kelly, Jim O’Brien & John Geary) and Michael O’Shaugnessy
D.C.S. (P. Lynch) beat Sacred Heart (Chris O’Shaughnessy, Denis The Cork Zone Public
Keane, Peg Ahern & Gerardine Keane).
