                   Jurassic Inter Area Short Mat Bowls Tournament
                   Jurassic Inter Area Short Mat Bowls Tournament
              This was the inaugural East Devon Jurassic Inter Area Tournament played at Cloakham,
              Axminster. Six teams, each of eighteen players plus their supporters amounting over 120 peo-
              ple on the site at any one time.
                    The nominated Charity of the day was Devon Freewheelers (Blood bikes).
                    Competing teams consisted of two pairs; two trippples; and two fours and made from a
              wide variety of players from within an “area” but not confined by league or county boundaries.
                    Teams travelling from Southwest Devon to edge of Cornwall; North 2 South Devon;
              Blackmore & North East Somerset; and East Devon Harlequins all gathered to do battle
              throughout the whole day tournament.
                    Following the ceremonial welcoming, bowling commenced at 09.10am and ran continu-
              ously on a timed basis throughout the day with last bowl played at 17.30pm. The well re-
              hearsed Jurassic support team clearing away took until 19.30pm. – A full day you might say!
              The atmosphere became intense and simply pervaded all parts of the arena especially when
              the trippples and fours played watched by full crowds seated on all three sides.
