Hallowes, Joan Cox Resort
and Malcolm Taylor scored a four on the last end
whilst Joan Northcott, Des Seymour, Richard
Kitchener and Elaine Bull dropped single, thus
leaving both teams on the same plus.
The 2-Bowl Singles was again very hotly
contested with John Lawes and Mel Bowen fight-
Singles finalist Mel Bowen
and champion John Lawes ing their way through to the final, in which John
Lawes emerged as the Victor.
Both Triples Semi-finals were somewhat one-sided with Eunice Thompson, Richard and
Maria Kitchener through to face Arnie Jaffe, Irene Roberts and Eve Collingridge in the best of
10 ends final. The latter trio opened up with a four on the first end and three ends later they
were leading 7 - 0. At this point Eunice, Richard & Maria seemed to step up another gear and
scored a three and then a stunning 5 to go into the lead.
They followed this up with three singles and a two to lead 13 - 7 going into the last end.
A full house six was needed by Arnie, Irene & Eve but they could only manage a two to leave
Eunice Thompson, Richard and Maria Kitchener as 13 - 9 Champions.
As with the Triples both semi-finals were one-sided affairs with Val & Brian Latham along-
side Richard & Maria Kitchener, who were looking to make a double win to add to their Triples.
However, Val & Brian had other Ideas and led 6 - 0 after just two ends. Richard & Maria fought
back with three singles to cut the deficit but at this point Val & Brian struck with a three and
then a single to give them an unassailable lead and with it the Pairs Title.
