              stone played Thomas Perris. This
was a close fought match and on
the 5th end it was even, John
scored on the next two ends leav-
ing Thomas needing 3 for a draw
and 4 to win on the last end but he
              only managed leaving Redstone
              winning 7/6.
                    The other Semi Final saw
              Eugene Balbinski playing Lorraine
Axtell. Eugene won the first three
ends and by the half way stage
led 4/2 to Eugene who also scored L to R, Brab Hallowes(Organiser) John Redstone
on the next end, Lorraine fought Runner Up, Ron Berry Club Chairman,
back on the last two ends but ran Eugene Balbinski winner.
              out of time loosing 5/6.
The Final was untimed over 10 ends and this was a ding dong match by the midway
point it was 5 shots all, by the 8th end it was 8 all and on the 10th end it was 10 all. An extra
end was needed, which Eugene won by 2 shots.

              WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP NOTICE
              WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP NOTICE
I am told that with a lot of ill feeling, the event will take place in Sweden as planned.
However, I have had a communication that opens with the statement that “Bowls Swe-
den does not support this decision and were not present at the meeting held in England
on 15th October. Bowls Sweden has on several occasions written to the World Council
to say that we are unable to host the event – this has been ignored.” At this stage I will
not publish the rest of the statement until it is clarified.
As Editor I am in a “he said she said” situation as usual and what the full story is
depends on who you listen too and I may never find out. This whole mess is typical of
our utter shambles as a sport. I thought once that we had a great future but not now
as I feel we couldn’t run a booze up in a Brewery! I will seek further clarification and
may print more in a later edition.
