The annual Pairs/Fours Tournament at
Cloakham in Devon, saw the Blues
Brothers anything but blue as they
lifted their pairs trophies. The event is
somewhat unusual in that two pair’s
enter the event starting on a round
robin basis and then knockouts.
The two pairs are also “linked”
where points are concerned as they
progress through the tournament. It is
an event within an event as the pairs
who score the most points between
them also lift the Terry Trott Fours title.
As it turned out two of the linked Pairs
made it all the way through to the final
and thus they won the Terry Trott fours
but had to battle it out for the Pairs title.
It was yet another successful
event with the mats sponsored by
Breakaway Leisure Holidays. The day
starts with a round robin section where
pairs of players from East Devon and
surrounding areas are drawn at ran-
dom play in groups of four against each
other. After lunch there was a playoff
section which reduces numbers of
pairs to 32 from 48, losing pairs at this
point are knocked out.
