Ann Gale, Dave McTaggart, Chris Holland &
Collin Holland won back the Ronaldsway
Fours title after a hard fought round robin left
three teams on the same points, but they took
it on chalks.
The day started with Holland’s team
beating Archie Collister, Wyn Collister,
Stephen Durcan & Bernie Durcan 10-3. Their
main challengers seemed to be Eddie Brew,
Winners Ann Gale, Dave McTaggart, Harry Minor, Michael Collister & Stephen Gale
Chris & Collin Holland after they won their opening game 11-2 against
Matt Quayle, Rita Woodworth, Ann Hollingworth & Sylvia Maddrell.
In the second round of games Maddrell’s team hit back, defeating the eventual champions
7-4 thanks to a cracking last wood by Sylvia Maddrell, with Gale’s team beating Durcan’s fours
by 12-6 to put them in control of the competition.
Holland’s team knew they had to win by more than 4 shots and managed to get to a 9-3
lead with one end remaining, and with Gale’s team holding 5 Collin played a perfect wood to
take the shot and the title. Maddrell’s team won their last game 14-6 but it wasn't enough to
overtake Gale for Runner's-up spot.

TWO BOWL SINGLES
2 Bowl Singles Competition played for since 1987 and Crown
Green Bowlers were originally the players as they only bowl out-
doors with two bowls. At the end of the day, Chris Holland was the
triumphant Winner of the Manx 2 bowl singles competition.
In the first round games, Collin Holland after close last 3 ends
beat Ann Hollingworth 8-6, Dave McTaggart beat Sylvia Maddrell
8-5, Eddie Brew and Harry Minor had a close tussle before Harry
eventually won 6-5, Chris Holland and Matt Quayle also had a
thrilling game with Chris coming out 7-6, In the last of the first round
Archie Collister against James Teare raced away for 6 ends before
James was able to find his length but it was not enough with Archie
running out 10-4. Winner Chris Holland
In the Quarter Finals Collin Holland overcame Dave McTaggart 9-7 by virtue of taking 4
ends of 2 bowls, Chris Holland beat David Cottier 9-5, Archie Collister had a close game with
Harry Minor to win 7-6 and Wyn Collister took victory over Richard Faragher 11-2.
The Semi-finals saw Chris race to a 9-5 win over Wyn Collister while her better half Archie
Collister had a titanic struggle against Collin Holland to draw 8-8 on the last end to force an
extra end and was lying with 2 bowls counting Collin was forced to play with weight which
glanced off Archie’s bowl leaving him to take the spoils 10-8, thus preventing a husband and
wife clash in the final. The actual final saw Chris Holland never really under pressure from
Archie and taking the title 11-7
