Employees are prohibited from taking pictures or video of any kind on LSBA premises, unless for a
legitimate business purpose, or unless expressly authorized by the persons identified in the
picture/video. Employees should ask permission before transmitting or posting any images taken at
work.
2.23 PARKING
The Louisiana State Bar Association provides parking for all full-time employees during regular business
hours. There is limited parking at the Louisiana Bar Center. The Louisiana State Bar Association shall
arrange and pay for parking at nearby commercial lots for eligible Employees. Parking assignments shall
be at the discretion of the Executive Director.
2.24 VISITORS
Friends and relatives should not visit Employees for regular or extended periods of time during
working hours. In the event of an emergency or special circumstances, visitors must first report to the
LSBA Receptionist, while the Employee is notified of the presence of personal visitors.
2.25 TOBACCO PRODUCTS
Smoking, or the use of other tobacco products, by Employees is permitted to the extent that the use
does not violate Louisiana or federal law. Smoking is not allowed inside the LSBA office and not
within 20 feet of any office entrance.
Employees who choose to smoke should be considerate of the preferences of non-smokers. For safety
purposes, Employees should ensure cigarette butts and matches are fully extinguished after use.
Tobacco waste should be disposed of in a proper waste receptacle. The tossing of cigarette butts or
other tobacco waste on the ground outside the LSBA office is not permitted.
2.26 OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT
Outside employment or in any other business activity that constitutes a conflict of interest or interferes
with an Employee’s job performance, directly or indirectly, is not permitted. Prior to accepting outside
employment, an Employee is required to provide advance notice in writing to his/her supervisor of the
potential employer or outside business activity.
An Employee on leave of absence from the LSBA is not permitted to engage in outside employment
during a period of leave.
2.27 GIFTS, MEALS AND ENTERTAINMENT
Relationships with vendors and suppliers for the LSBA should be based upon mutual honesty and
integrity. Gifts, meals and other entertainment should carry no business obligation, should not be a
reward for steering business or contracts, and should not be outside generally accepted industry
practice and industry standards. When considering whether to accept a gift, meal or entertainment, the
following general guidelines apply:
