Indira Gandhi Memorial Library is a central facility, suppor ng the teaching and
research ac vi es of the University by providing access to print/online
informa on resources and other research tools. The library was established in
the year 1975 and then named a er Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1989. It
is one of the best modern university library in terms of infrastructure, human
resources and services. It is the first fully-automated University Library in India
(1995), started PGDLAN Course in 1998 and successfully con nuing ll date,

serving as a centre for NBHM Southern Region, established competency in digital
libraries/digi za on ac vi es, member of UGC-Inflibnet – e-shodhsindu,
shoudganga, OCLC, etc.

The Telangana Library Associa on was established on 9th August 2014 on the
Librarians' Day and got registered as a Society with the Telangana State. The
mission of the Associa on is "Library Service for All." The objec ves of the TSLA
include: Promote Library movement and development of all types of libraries,
especially Public Libraries in the state of Telangana. Capacity building and skill
enhancement of LIS professionals by organizing knowledge enhancement and
skill development programs.
