Dear Fellow Members,
th
Congratulations to Dale Copedge and the Lansing Branch NAACP on their 55 Annual Fight for
Freedom Fund Dinner!
Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist and I want to honor the Lansing Branch NAACP members and
leadership who have selflessly dedicated decades of their lives to serve our community and our
state as a whole. Fifty-five years later, the Lansing Branch NAACP continues their fight for freedom,
and we stand with you on the front line against systemic injustices and inequalities we face.
The Freedom Fund Dinner was founded in a period of renewed national hope and determination
among Black Americans, even in the face of continuing racial violence and tragedy. Their
achievements demonstrate the organization's focus on continued efforts toward equal rights for
all. Their proven track record has ensured the political, educational, social, and economic
equality of rights of all persons and elimination of race-based discrimination.
There can be little doubt that the hard work of the Lansing Branch NAACP will benefit future
generations across the state of Michigan for decades to come.
On behalf of the state of Michigan, Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist and I would like to recognize
th
the Lansing Branch NAACP on their 55 Annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner. We send our
best wishes for your continued success.
Sincerely,
Gretchen Whitmer Garlin Gilchrist II
Governor of Michigan Lieutenant Governor
