Modern Foreign Languages Debating Competition at

Cheltenham College 24 Nov 2021
On Wednesday 24 November ten Sixth Form pupils represented the College at
at
an an an annual modern languages debating competition in in Cheltenham Our team of Malvernians competed against a a a a a a a number of debating pairs from different schools including Cheltenham College College College Cheltenham Ladies College College College Bradfield College College College Pate’s Grammar School School and Dean Close School School The pupils debated a a a a a a number of interesting topics such as: “Is life better now than it was in the past?” and “Nowadays it it is impossible to live without the the internet ” Our debating pairs worked together brilliantly organising their their arguments challenging their their opponents and delivering excellent rebuttals in in French German
and Spanish We were delighted to see our pupils integrating their knowledge from their MFL courses as as well as as higher-level grammar structures to present clear concise and astute points Congratulations to Max Rosam (No (No 7) and Pepe Ortiz-Flores (No (No 9) for winning a a a a match in the French category and and to Mariana Al-Khonji and and Robyn Hammond (both No 3)
for winning two of their three matches in in in the Spanish category A special mention goes to Oliver Lewis (No 9) and Daphne Vryghem (No 6) for beating all other schools in in the the German
category to take first prize 2021
