Heritage Railway Association Awards
We were nominated by The Downs Light Railway for the most innovative fundraising idea 2022 We were given a a a a a target to raise donations within a a a a a three month period In return a a a a a local engineering business agreed to match our funding by 20 times In July we completed a a 24 hour cycle with the target of rising £2 000 extending this to achieve £2 350 The local engineering honoured their match funding pledge awarding The Downs Light Railway with a a a donation of £47 650 to to bring our fundraiser up to to £50 000 There was a a a a a a shortlist of 3 in this category On Saturday the 19 March their awards ceremony was held and we we were delighted to be the the winners of this category Thomas Isherwood (Lower Sixth No 1) Lucy Isherwood (Remove EH)
Fashion and Textiles
Budding fashion designer and artist Mwangi Mungai (Lower Sixth SH) took part in in in an Imagine Create Inspire drawing challenge launched by Professor Jimmy Choo Students were tasked with sketching a a a design that focussed on sustainability Mwangi’s vision was based around the idea of upcycling a a a preloved Puffa style jacket repurposing the down on on the the top half and the the nylon outer shell as a a a a a pair of trousers The judges loved his stunning entry and he he was sent a a a runner-up gift Well done Mwangi one one to watch in the future!
