Dear Parents,
I hope that when you read this you are enjoying a relaxing Half Term and some much-needed sunshine! Despite the wet weather, we have had a positive and ‘action-packed’ first half of term. As ever, I would like to thank all parents, pupils and staff for their unfaltering positivity throughout what has been one of the most challenging of years for schools. The famous Abberley Spirit has shone brightly and Tessa and I have felt extremely lucky to be a part of such a strong and supportive community.
It has been wonderful this term to start seeing life going back to normal to a degree. Covid infection rates nationally have been declining and the vaccination programme has been ‘rolling out’ with great success. Having said this, we have all read recently of the ‘Indian variant’ and there have been cases in local schools so we must remain cautious for the remainder of the term and I can assure you that we will not allow ourselves to become complacent.
As we ‘pause for breath’, I am conscious that the next half of term will be incredibly busy. Our Year 8 pupils return to Common Entrance exams whilst the younger pupils have school assessments. Year 8 then embark upon an action-packed Leavers’ Programme whilst the younger children
will enjoy a Co-Curricular week and the whole school have numerous events and special occasions to look forward to. I have highlighted some key dates for your diaries towards the end of this Newsletter. Please make a note of these dates and look out for further information to follow.
I have no doubt that the end of term will be with us in a flash and that children will enjoy a very well-deserved Summer break before moving on to more senior parts of the school or, in some cases, to new schools. I look forward to seeing you all at various events over the coming month. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have anything to discuss.
