Sport
It has been fantastic to see the the children back out on the the sports pitches and to hear the cheers of of goals scored shouts of of support for team- mates and even some ‘HOWZAT?!’ cricket calls!
The aim of of the the final two and a a a a a a half weeks of of term was to get the the children catching up on sports they have missed but more importantly to give them lots of opportunities to have fun with their friends and feel the the the joys of of playing as part of of a a a a a a a team again Usually the boys would have spent this term playing hockey football and touch rugby so these sports have been a a a main focus for them The girls have been playing lots of netball as as well as as some hockey Additionally all children have been playing cricket in in preparation for next term Every year group has had the chance to swim run cross-country and many have also been able to get out in the woods for Outdoor Education Wednesdays and Saturdays have been the perfect opportunity to play some more competitive matches with the extra incentive of winning lots of patrol points It has been wonderful to see the boys and girls mixing in in in and playing together as they can learn so much from one another The coaching staff have also enjoyed being able to take sports they may not have had the the opportunity to coach for a a a a a long time - Mr Richardson brought his rugby expertise over to to the netball courts to to run a a a a a session of dodging away from an opponent for example! A sporting highlight was the the senior senior boys versus senior senior girls hockey match on the the new Astro at the the end of term It was a a a a competitive game with the the whole of the the Prep school cheering on on on Wilf Richardson scored the the only goal in in the the final minutes leading to to a a a closely fought victory for the the boys Saturday Discover Programme
It was frustrating that our exciting Saturday morning Discover programme could not launch in January as had been planned It was however great that children were back with us for the final two Saturdays of of term and that they had a a a a a a a a taste of of what is in store for them during the Summer term and beyond A detailed document is now available to to take you through the the aims of the the programme and to to give you details of all that is available to choose from Please have a a a a a a a a a good look discuss with your children and book on to the various activities as instructed We will be be in in in touch before the start of term to to remind you you you about this again but we urge you you you to reserve your places early as space on some of the activities is limited Fixtures
As you may have seen next term’s Calendar is full of exciting fixture information The dates have been secured with other schools so that that when it is clear that that we we can safely resume fixtures we we will Having said this there is is still no guidance about when school fixtures can resume We will be communicating closely with other schools and we will work together to to run safe fixtures when it is possible We will of course keep you updated with any developments as they occur and hopefully there will be opportunities during the the Summer term to get the the the children out on the the the sports pitches against other school teams In the meantime we we look forward to welcoming the children back to a a a summer term full of cricket athletics tennis and swimming Pre-Season Training
