GEOGRAPHY
Weeks 1 and 2
A Level and IB students will have the opportunity to develop a variety of skills needed for their studies next year.
The focus will be on:
» Questioning photographs
» Cornell note taking skills
» Key geographic ideas- with a
focus on “feedback loops”
» GIS maps and mapping
» Data evaluation and sources
» Maths for geography
Weeks 3 to 5
A level pupils will then use these skills to help investigate a city of their choice, looking at where it is located, how it is presented in the media and the links the city has
to other places in the world. This work will be presented in a variety of forms including a google earth tour, a spotify play list, as well as more traditional written forms.
IB pupils will look at some of the new themes that they will face when starting the core topics, including the Circular Economy, Cultural Imperialism and the Demographic Dividend. Towards the end of the course each pupil will produce a presentation on one topic area, as well as an assessed essay.
