Just then, I noticed that a fellow was walking past me in the field. He stopped and looked at me with an inquisitive look on his face. “Are you all right, dude?” he asked. “Who are you talking to anyway?”
“Oh, nobody,” I answered rather sheepishly. “I’m just thinking out loud, that’s all. Don’t worry yourself about it. Thanks for asking—dude.” I waited until my “concerned friend” was a safe distance away before I returned my attention to Ant’s mound. But when I did, something strange happened: When I looked at his mound, I saw what anyone would expect to see: an ant going in and out of his hole carrying pieces of soil. My imagination had completely escaped me, and I hadn’t even the slightest tendency to try to make contact with this little creature that was, only moments before, my galactic travelling companion! I stood up and looked around the recreation park.
