Sub-component 2.2 Textile (wool and cashmere) value chain

This sub component on fibre value chain covered greater extent of interventions on improving
quality of wool and cashmere in both supply chain and processing stages. In partnership with
AUO cooperative and MoFALI the electric sheep shearing for wool quality improvement was
one of the most recognized interventions by the project beneficiaries and counterparts.
Building on the sheep wool quality improvement action, the project was able to link with
upgrading the woollen yarn manufacturing in the spinning and knitwear finishing processes in
the same value chain using the same wool raw material. National experts pool was created at
RDILI as a result of intensive ToT trainings for fibre industry by the UNIDO trainers. More
               details were reported below.

Output 2.3.1: Upgraded spinning process in cooperation with the Mongolian Wool
                 Association

                                           ● Bottlenecks in spinning process and appropriate corrective
actions were planned with help of the international expert Mr.
Activity 2.3.1.1: Conduct Linus Wu. The project under a sub-contract with RDILI has
                 industry assessments

                                              industry.

                                           ● Upgraded woollen (system) yarn manufacture by developing
standard practice and training programme that will contribute to
improved quality of woollen products and increased export
opportunity that creates demand of job creation in the textile
value chain. In doing so following outcomes were achieved:

                                           - Training material in English and Mongolian on woollen yarn
manufacturing, which includes spinning system and facilities,
processing technology, raw material properties in relation to

and Capradora) and strengthened skills and availability of local
                                              expertise in this field.
                                           - Market analysis was carried out for potential exports and
domestic markets for both woollen yarn and knitwear products.
Priority was given to sheep and yak wool and goat cashmere at
                                              certain extent.
