COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT
Monographs
Collection development focuses on the learning outcomes of library users rather than on strictly
comprehensive collections or curriculum support. The Librarian gathers and analyzes the circulation
statistics on an annual basis and uses the data for acquisition, de-selection, and space planning.
The Library has embraced the “patron-driven acquisition” model, presenting many more titles for
students and faculty to use, and purchasing only what is needed, allowing the Library to spend the
same amount of money as it previously spent on monographs, but with a higher rate of use. More than
144 books were ordered and processed by the Library in the academic year 2016-17. The Library is
using Goodreads to promote new and unused books linked to subject on a virtual display shelf:
