Participation in Renison Program Accreditation
In support of several programs and self-study reports in 2016-2017, the Librarian met with the
accreditation members to discuss library support for the the Social Work, SDS, SI and English Language
Studies program. As well, he participated in accreditation and prepared documentation, making
suggestions for learning resource development to support the curriculum.
Reviewers spoke glowingly of the Library’s contribution to Social Development Studies in their March
24 report:
“Library resources are adequate, thanks to an entrepreneurial librarian who listens carefully to
the needs of students and faculty. Students use this library; it has the highest circulation of any
library in the University. He has also developed innovative ways to engage students, including
providing a room with technology so that they can work on their group classroom presentations.
It was also impressive (and unique, in our experience) to see a faculty librarian actively
collaborating in interdisciplinary research initiatives (helping to build a digital storytelling library
resource bank to support teaching) with SDS faculty members. This is an excellent example of
integrated research/teaching and learning as well as a demonstration of innovative teaching and
research initiatives at Renison.”
